Wrap-Up: October 2016

Hello, fellow readers! I read a whopping 20 books this month! How, you ask? I clearly do not have a life outside of reading and writing. And why? I wanted to get ahead on my 2016 reading challenge so that I wouldn’t have to worry about reading anything during National Novel Writing Month (but more on that later).

I read from many different genres so I hope you’ll find something that tickles your fancy! Continue reading

Wrap-Up: June 2016

Hello to all of my fellow book bloggers, bookstagrammers, booktubers, and to the randoms who accidentally stumbled upon this page and who are now thinking, “What sort of geekery did I just get myself into?” — How are you? Have you eaten yet? What are you currently reading? Want to get married?

Yeah… I’m really good at initiating conversations, so much so that I have a ridiculous number of friends. I can count them on two whole fingers. In any case, I haven’t done a monthly wrap-up since March but I should probably get back into the habit of posting them because it’s so much easier to keep track of my reading stats this way.

Without further ado, here are the books I read during the month of June:

Wrap-Up: March 2016

Hello, lovely readers! What a good month it has been. By “good”, I mean that this month was slightly better than February in terms of the number of books read, as well as the quality of those books. The month in general had me in a life slump, but that’s not important.

If you can’t be bothered to read the rest of this post, you can watch my wrap-up on YouTube instead. Just click here.

In total, I read 12 books this month. Among those 12, I’ve acquired two new all-time-favourites: An Ember in the Ashes and Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. For the sake of being organized, I separated all the books by their star ratings and linked to their full reviews (for your convenience).

That’s all, folks!

Feel free to leave me any questions or comments regarding what I’ve read or said.

Wrap-Up: February 2016

Hello, bookish friends!

It’s no surprise that this wasn’t a great reading month (in terms of the number of books I finished). 10 books isn’t bad, but I certainly could have read more if I didn’t have an exam to write every week of this month. Oh well.

In any case, here are this month’s reads categorized by their star ratings:

★★★★ 1/2 (4.5 stars):

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

★★★★ (4 stars):

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

★★★ 1/2 (3.5 stars):

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

★★★ (3 stars):

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

★★ 1/2 (2.5 stars):

The Prince of Venice Beach by Blake Nelson
Unite Me by Tahereh Mafi

That’s all, folks!

Wrap-Up: January 2016

Hello, bookish friends!

So, I read a total of 14 books this month. That is unreal. I am quite proud of myself.

Reading my pile of Rainbow Rowell books was a really nice treat. I don’t think I could dislike anything she writes. Not to mention, Fangirl has made it into my all-time favourites, so that is quite a feat.

By far, my favourite read of this month was The Infernal Devices trilogy. It was so good. To give you an idea of how obsessed I now am with the Shadow World, let’s just say that I’m considering getting actual runes tattooed on me. Yes, it will probably happen. I’m looking forward to reading The Mortal Instruments series next month! I’m sure it will be just as good, if not better, than its prequel trilogy.

In any case, here are this month’s reads categorized by their star ratings:

★★★★★ (5 stars):

Wonder by R.J. Palacio
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

★★★★ 1/2 (4.5 stars):

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

★★★★ (4 stars):

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

★★★ 1/2 (3.5 stars):

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews
The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider
Landline by Rainbow Rowell

That’s all, folks!

Until next time (basically the end of next month), take care.

Love always,

Layla
